I have had the desire to work with animals since I was a little kid. Neighbors used to call me to come and get different critters out of their garage or house. But as life happens, my life took a different path for a while. After having a career as a licensed massage therapist and licensed real estate agent, I was working on my father’s land in Mars Hill trying to figure out my next step in life. My best friend had asked me what I wanted to be when I was little and my response was “Work with animals!” After that question, I decided to go for it.
I started working in 2009 at an animal hospital in Madison, Ala., and immediately fell in love with the job. After about a year of work, I wanted to understand the “why” behind what I was doing. I moved back to Asheville and enrolled in the Veterinary Medical Technology program at AB Tech in 2011 and earned my A.A.S in 2013. After school, I completed a one year rotating internship through the different departments at University of Tennessee- Knoxville’s Veterinary Medical School. During this internship I fell in love with emergency medicine and anesthesia. After completing the internship in June 2014, I began working at R.E.A.C.H.
During my time off, I enjoy playing Frisbee with my dog Kiya, reading and snuggling with my cat Bella, and enjoy the company of my family and friends.
