Hi! My name is Darcie. I have the honor of being the Technical Supervisor here at R.E.A.C.H. Emergency Animal Hospital since January 2013. I am a Registered Veterinary Technician and have been in the Veterinary Field for 14 years. I originally obtained my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Resources but found my calling in Veterinary Medicine. I grew up in Northern Indiana but became tired of the flat lands and found my home here in the Western North Carolina Mountains. I am married and have two children, Max is 5 yrs old and Maya is 7 yrs old. I have the pleasure of sharing my home with 3 dogs, 2 cats, some fish, and whatever I happen to be fostering at the time.
My main goal when you bring your pet to R.E.A.C.H. is providing them with the best medical care, as well as comforting them and doing my best to help alleviate any pain or stress they are experiencing. I strongly believe that in keeping their stress level down they will have the opportunity to heal faster. My special interests are nursing care, animal behavior and low stress handling. My favorite thing outside of working with animals is spending time with my family in the great outdoors! We love to hike, swim, snowboard and camp. We spend time together on our property landscaping and gardening. When the weather is just not conducive to those hobbies, curling up with a good book is second best for me.
