I have lived in the Asheville area for over 20 years now, although not a native, I have always considered these mountains to be my home. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, then went on to become a Law Enforcement Park Ranger for the National Park Service. Although I loved my job as a park ranger, I came to the realization that it just wasn't the job for me anymore. I left the service in 2011 to move back to North Carolina and pursue a more passionate career in veterinary medicine. I enrolled in A-B Tech's Veterinary Technology Program in 2014 and now have the fortunate opportunity to work at R.E.A.C.H.
Like everyone in this field of work, I am passionate about animals and their well-being and have always enjoyed the dynamics of emergency care and medicine. Over the years I have become certified as an EMT, Wilderness First Responder and Wildland Firefighter. Down the road, I would love to become involved in wildlife rehabilitation, for it has always been something that has interested me. I have two dogs at home, Day-Z and Willow and two rats, Meatloaf and Sweet Pea. In my down time, I love to do anything and everything outdoors. I have been a river guide for 15 years and jump at the opportunity to get on the water. I also enjoy hiking, snowboarding, traveling and sitting around a campfire with my family and friends. I am extremely excited to start this new chapter in my life and the experience it will bring.
